Day 1
We depart from Pretoria on a route via Roodepoort,and Bloemfontein, and Aliwal-North, where we would spend our first evening at Umtali inn.
Day 2
After a delicious breakfast, we depart on a spectacular route all along the southern border of the Drakensberg and via Lady Gray, Barkly East,to call it a day shortly before Elliot,Ugie and Mthatha to Coffee Bay, situated on the Wild Coast. Our home for the next 2 nights is the Ocean View Hotel, nestled between towering cliffs and the sparkling Indian Ocean.
Day 3
A day to marvel at the beauty of the environment. Coffee Bay is beautifully situated along the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape and is named for the many coffee trees growing in the area – all as result of coffee beans spilled by earlier pioneers. Sufficient time is available to relax on the beach, and a visit is also planned to the peculiar “Hole in the Wall”.
Day 4
After breakfast we leave this paradise. We travel all along the coastline to reach our destination the coastal holiday town of Port Alfred,where we are accommodated for the next two nights in the comfort of the Halyards Hotel, situated in the Marina, on the banks of the Kowie River.
Day 5
Today we explore the area and travel through spectacular scenery and enormous pineapple fields. At Bathurst we can have some lunch and enjoy a drink in the oldest pub in South Africa. We conclude the day with a sunset boat cruise on the beautiful Kowie river.
Day 6
After breakfast, we depart on a very interesting route. We take the route to Grahamstown to stand in awe at the amazing St. Georges and St. Michael Cathedral. At Patersonwe turn off for the Addo National Park to have a closer look at the many Elephants. We then proceed northwards via the spectacular Olifantskop pass, past Cookhouse, across the Daggaboersnekto Cradock, where we will spend the night.
Day 7
After a hearty breakfast, we hit the road once more. At around lunchtime, we will arrive at Colesberg, where we will spend the last evening. At Colesbergwe will have drive around town to see all the historical buildings in this treasured town. There will be a visit to the largest dam in South Africa – the Gariep Dam, in the afternoon.
Day 8
Too soon the holiday is over. After breakfast, we hit the road, to tackle the last portion of the road back home. Another beautiful experience becomes an everlasting memory
