About Savanna Tours
History
Savanna Tours is a tour organization and the brainchild of Danie & Lente Blom. It was established in 1998, in the beginning it was small and focused on cheaper budget tours. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to grow it to what it is today. There were limited tours available, but as we became familiar with the accommodation facilities and routes available, a whole new world of potential opened to us. We started exploring and discovered new and exciting routes. Today after 27 years in the industry we have a variety of 24 to 26 tours available annually, and we are still expanding.
In June 2021 Savanna Tours came to an abrupt stand-still due to the unexpected and sudden passing of Danie. Savanna Tours was forced to its knees, after approximately two months we started touring again. Danie grew this business in all these years, and he would have wanted us to build further on his legacy.
Savanna Tours is much more than just a tour organization, we are family. We take tremendous pride in our tours and strive to go the extra mile for you. Our accommodation is high quality en-suite, and we ensure scrumptious meals and friendly service. While our programme evolves each year, a selection of our much-loved South African tours returns regularly; alongside new journeys that reflect changing seasons, interests, opportunities and rainfall sessions (such as our Augrabies Falls Blitz Tours) This allows us to keep each year fresh while still offering the destinations our guests know and love.
Our tours are thoughtfully paced and personally hosted with comfort, care and companionship at the heart of every adventure. Dates and frequencies may change from year to year, but what remains constant is our attention to detail and our commitment to creating memorable experiences.

Our Tribute To Danie Blom
Daniel Pieter Blom was born on 10 February 1945. In 1968 Danie married Lente Nel and received his BSC Honors degree in Chemistry from Wits University.
They had 3 children: Lente, Izette and Pieter. He worked for Naschem (known today as Denel) for many years, until his search for adventure led him to start Savanna Tours.
Savanna Tours was officially registered in 2004. It started small, with budget tours. Today Savanna Tours is a well-known touring company, offering the best tours to almost every destination in our country. We strive to give you the best holidays.
Danie sadly passed away on 6 June 2021. He will always be remembered for the legacy and love for travel, nature and wildlife he left behind.
We lost an iconic tour operator, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. We will always miss him and carry him in our hearts forever. A true gentleman!
