Day 1

We depart from Pretoria, & Roodepoort, we stop at
Bloemfontein for lunch, before we resume our travels to
Colesberg, where we will stay tonight.

Day 2

After a scrumptious breakfast, we depart from Colesberg,
towards Nieu Bethesda. We visit the well-known Owl
House of Helen Martins and the Fossil museum and pay
a visit to the graveyard. We travel further to Graaff Reinet,
there we will see the most beautiful church, visit the
military history museum, and if there is time to spare, the
very interesting Karoo Origins. We end this day with a
relaxing excursion to the Valley of Desolation, before we
come to rest at Karoo Park.

Day 3

We leave Graaff Reinet and travel to Laingsburg, we
take a moment to remember the horrific flood at the
Laingsburg Flood Museum and fill the hungry spots with
fresh roosterkoek. We travel further to the charming little
town Matjiesfontein, our accommodation for the next 2
evenings. Feel free to explore this little town at your own
time. At 17:30 there is a short red bus tour before dinner.

Day 4

First, it is breakfast time, then we depart for the day to
Sutherland. We visit the Largest Telescope (SALT) in
South Africa. We have a guided tour through their visitor’s
centre and get the opportunity to have a look at the
research telescopes. Then the “piece de resistance” the
SALT telescope, we visit the Louw house, there is an
array of graveyards and the Sutherland Museum. We
return to Matjiesfontein later the afternoon.

Day 5

Sadly, we must pack up and leave Matjiesfontein. We
travel via Touwsrivier to Montagu. We visit the dried fruit
padstal, and the very interesting Montagu Station, we
also go for a quick peak at the Dutch Reformed Church in
town. Pack your swimwear, we stay at Avalon Springs
with their warm water swimming pools. This promises to
relax you after the day’s activities.

Day 6

Today is a usy day. We dapart from Montagu. Stop in
Barrydale to visit the Barrydale Handweavers and other
interesting places. Then we are off to
Ladismith for a visit to the Otto
Hager Museum and other
architectural wonders, and the eye
of Ladismith. We travel to
Calitzdorp, for a visit to the
Calitzdorp Museum, we will also
stop at the Dutch Reformed Church and the Trader’s
house. Then we are heading to Prince Albert, our
accommodation for tonight. For the brave there will be
Ghost Stories available regarding the town of Prince
Albert.

Day 7

We have a hearty breakfast, then we visit the local Fig
Farm in Prince Albert, for some interesting facts
regarding figs. Then we travel via Willowmore back to
Colesberg where we will spend our last evening in the
Karoo tranquillity.

Day 8

Today, after a delicious breakfast, the time has arrived to
pack-up and head home. With good memories of all the
visits, we travel back to Roodepoort and Pretoria.
