Day 1
We depart from Pretoria and travel via Roodepoort. Then we head southward via Villiers and Harrismith, to reach the Central Drakensberg,passing the impressive Sterkfontein dam and the spectacular Oliviershoek pass. Our accommodation is in the tranquillity of the Nest Hotel for the next 2 nights.
Day 2
After a delicious breakfast, we attend a raptor show (should the weather allow it) and return to the hotel for lunch. During the afternoon, we visit a few interesting little shops and industries in the area and enjoy the grandeur of the majestic mountains.
Day 3
After breakfast, we depart and follow a route via Estcourt, Howick, Pietermaritzburg, and Durban to arrive in the world heritage site of St Lucia, where accommodation is in the Elephant Lake Hotel for the next 2 nights.
Day 4
A day filled with excitement in this beautiful area. A game drive by bus through the Isimangaliso wetland park on the eastern shore of the St Lucia Lake, and a visit to Cape Vidal is followed by a 2-hour guided boat cruiseon the St Lucia Lake.
Day 5
After a delightful breakfast, we depart and travel northwards via Mkuzi. We enter Swaziland at the Golela border post. Having completed the border formalities, we proceed via Big Bend and Manzini. At Ezulwini, we visit the factory where candles are hand-made. We then drive via the capital Mbabane to visit the well-known Ngwenya glass factory. Then we proceed along a breath-taking route via the Maguga damto Piggs Peak, where our accommodation is in the charmingly positioned Piggs Peak Hotel.
Day 6
We depart and leave Swaziland behind at the Jeppe’s Reef border post. We drive to our next destination Pinelake Inn where we will spend the next 3 nights. It will be an early arrival; this means a relaxing afternoon to explore Pinelake Inn in your own time
Day 7
After an early breakfast we leave Pinelake Inn for an exciting full day visit to the Kruger National Park. We return to Pinelake Inn later the afternoon.
Day 8
First it is breakfast time. Today we do the most exquisite route of all:the “Panorama Route” this route comprises of the Three rondavels near Mariepskop in the beautiful Blyde river Canyon, the Burkes Luck potholesand the very famous “Gods Window”. We should be in Graskop by lunch time, and during the afternoon we will visit the very interesting Graskop Gorge Lift, with its breath-taking view over the gorge. The lift travels 50 metres down the gorge, this is an optional excursion at a cost of R205.00 per person (Pensioners fee 65+) under 65 R240.00. After this busy day we return to the tranquillity of Pinelake Innfor our last evening
Day 9
All good things, unfortunately, come to an end and after breakfast we reluctantly pack the bus and head back home. The route takes us past Mbombela, and we ascend the escarpment by means of the magnificent Elands River valley. From here we return to Pretoria via Belfast, Witbank,and Roodepoort.
