Tour Details & Itinerary

Day 1

We start with an early departure from Pretoria and Roodepoort and travel via Vereeniging, Kroonstad, Winburg, Bloemfontein, Trompsburg, Colesberg, we will spend our first evening in the comfortable Merino Inn.

Day 2

After a scrumptious breakfast, we depart to Nieu-Bethesda for a very insightful visit to the the Owl house of Helen Martins and the well-known fossil museum. After the busy morning, we stop at the “tot hier toe padstal” for some well-deserved refreshments. Later in the afternoon we visit the breathtaking Valley of Desolation to view the the massive Dolomite columns. To end the day, we stop at Karoo Park in Graaff Reinet.

Day 3

First it is breakfast time. We visit the very popular Addo National Park for some game viewing. We leave Addo behind and head towards Cape St. Francis, where we will spend the night.

Day 4

Today we will have ample time to discover the beautiful Garden Route. First on the list is the engineers’ wonder – the magnificent bridge over the Storms River. Then there is the 1000-year-old Big Yellow wood Tree in the Tsitsikamma Forrest. We will visit the beautifully located Tsitsikamma National Park, there we will be able to walk to the suspension bridge at the Storms River mouth, lunch will also be available. For the more adventurous, we will also visit the highest bridge Bungee-jumping resort in the world at Bloukrans bridge. We have a quick stop in Plettenberg Bay before arriving late afternoon at the the beautiful Knysna Log Inn, our accommodation for the next 2 nights.

Day 5

A day filled with excitement. After a scrumptious breakfast we depart to Knysna Elephant Park, we will be transported by tractor and trailers to the Elephants. We will have the opportunity to be in close contact with these gentle giants of the forest. We will be able to walk, feed and take photos with them. This is an absolute once in a lifetime experience. Lunch will be available. To end this day there is a relaxing boat cruise to The Knysna Heads, what more can you ask for? After this exciting day we return in the late afternoon to Knysna Log Inn.

Day 6

After breakfast and with heavy hearts we leave Knysna, the route takes us to George, we will visit the very interesting George Museum. We follow the route through the breathtaking Outeniqua pass on our way to Oudtshoorn. We visit the popular Ostrich Safari farm for an informative tour; lunch will be available. We visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch before heading to our overnight accommodation in Oudtshoorn at the Eldorado Hotel and we have dinner at Nostalgie

Day 7

After breakfast we leave Oudtshoorn behind, and drive via Meiringspoort to Colesberg. Tonight, we will experience the hospitality and peace and quiet of the Karoo. We will spend our penultimate night in Colesberg at Merino Inn.

Day 8

Sadly, the day we dreaded has arrived, we must pack up and head home. We pack the bus and leave Colesberg, to reach our home destinations Roodepoort and Pretoria late afternoon.
Tonight, we sleep in our own beds with pleasant thoughts of a wonderful tour with beautiful memories.
